“Danny”

“Danny”

February 17, 2013

People surround the stage of grass

Numbers in hand

They wear serious faces

There’s little supply for what they all demand

Finally after just a few

He enters

Walking right into view

Bay with an hourglass blaze

I can barely process his beauty

As the announcer speaks at speeds that amaze

Our competition faces us just beyond the gap

Motionless we sit

Numbers in lap

A horse the only thing standing in between

We lock eyes

It’s a battle of and over the green

The price quickly begins to increase

I look to my mother

No part of her ready to cease

Back and forth now

It’s us against them

Louder the speaker chants

Dollars again on the rise

Still my mother bids

Much to my surprise

Dancing around the staged ring

Handler and horse move with class

The checkbooks begin to sing

As we refuse to let this opportunity pass

Then suddenly silence echoes throughout the crowd

The only sound comes from the calmed auctioneer

He congratulates the new owners loud

His face looking at me here

I breathe a sigh of relief

As my future horse is led away

Still caught in disbelief

Oh what a great day

“The Dive”

All this time

I’ve been trying to see

What I’ve been doing wrong

What more could I be?

But I was looking at us wrong

You’re afraid to feel this way

Secretly denying it all along

 no courage to say

We were forbidden fun

And together we walked into the unknown

And when I think back

I notice how much we’ve both grown

And here we are

Going in cycles always like it’s been

Waiting for time to go by

Dreaming about you ‘til then

And when we do reunite

I always wonder why

How come we chose to fight?

But we don’t get mad Because of ego

Or something trivial

like what we lost or once had

We get frustrated because of desire

Love can make people crazy

As we raise the standard and dream a little higher

So take me in

Or push me out

It wont make a difference anymore

I already got your deepest secrets out

And now that I know

I’m even more sure

You confirmed my guess

You’re better than I thought you were

I love you for your smile

And what I know you wont do

Because you make me want to be better

By just being you

And the things you decide to fight for

Whatever makes you feel alive

Are the things people fall in love for

So why not take the dive?

…still, my life is moving forward at an incredibly demanding pace and I have to finish this book, the one that I’m writing. It is something that I am being told to do in the same way you might have a “feeling” not to move on a green light, just as a car runs through that same light within milliseconds; that hesitation from an inkling you had only moments before is the reason you survived. That same feeling is the one I have driving me to finish my book; It’s not a choice, it’s a command.

Question of passion

I don’t have a choice

It’s a curse to be driven towards something in the distance you can’t quite see

I am not even sure if a writer is the “something” I’m supposed to be

I tried to ignore my heart

Shut out my voice

But that just left me further torn apart

Like telling a fish to climb a tree

I was pretending to act like someone other than me

So, passion isn’t something you get to choose or can buy

it’s not even a question of how or why

Because it’s something intrinsic or innate

it’s the talent I have and am to use

and I can’t outrun fate

You can’t know it at the time, but the moments that become memories are the highlights of your life and subconsciously chosen by you for a specific reason; when you figure out what that reason is, you’ll suddenly understand how to be happy.

“The Lover’s Tree” is my new novel set to be released sometime in late 2012 ! Be excited! I am!
“Life is a mystery. Have you ever found yourself enthralled amidst coincidence, only to discover everything about that situation or event was not only somehow connected, but related back to you in some way? “The Lover’s Tree” is a journey of changes that transform the concept of life from something ordinary, into a reflection of the exceptional circumstances that surround each of us on a daily basis. Life is more than just ‘finding your place’ in the world and surviving; it’s about making your way and thriving, and maybe even falling in love along the way.
For Blake, life didn’t unfold quite how she expected to say the least. It is through her struggles and challenges that Blake found the strength to set the new standard by surmounting prior expectation.   The price people pay for the gift of life is one that is both easy to understand, yet hard to accept; all death is a part of life. People aren’t around forever but that’s what makes life precious; it expires. Through a sequence of interconnected occurrences, Blake discovers what she wants most out of life when she is given the opportunity to actualize what her heart truly desires. The chase of love is more than a simple race; it’s a test of courage and daring to risk what you can’t afford to lose, in order to have what you can’t live without.” (Back cover of “The Lover’s Tree”)

Before you, I had never felt a fraction

Of this type of intense attraction

The thought of only being with

One guy used to seem like a myth

Not trying to sound overly cliché

And despite my tendency to downplay

You’re starting to say things I never thought I’d hear

And it scares me for sounding so sincere

Guys who played the game were all I knew

I’m inclined to believe that you do too

But you’re proving me wrong

And I’m okay with that continuing along

I want your presence to surround

This attraction is more profound

Matching cleverly contrived wit

Enjoying that interaction just a little bit

Sometimes I forget, that we already met

Or I’d say this was love at first sight

Or maybe this is just how it feels

When the timing is finally right

But I’ll have to retract my protective wall

If I want to feel anything at all

Coming to the conclusion it’s better to love and lose

Than miss an opportunity because I wouldn’t choose

Familiar yet unlike anything I’ve ever known before

Leaving me Intoxicated by your enticing allure

Determined to resist that captivating spell

Pulling me slowly out of my safety shell

Daring myself to meet your gaze

Part of me justifying you as a temporary craze

Logic battling reason over love and lust

Unsure now which notion to trust

Somehow you became the guy

Who makes my heart skip

Afraid that I might want more than just a friendship

Up all night listening to you talk

One thing became clear

Though it may come as a shock

You should be with me here

Though I’ll never say it,

Couldn’t ever admit

The possibility that I may like you

Just a little bit

Deciding that the possible pain

And that fear of sorrow

Won’t be here ‘til at least tomorrow

Smile on my face, taking the world head on

There must be some reason why,  to you I’m so drawn

Entertaining opportunity for the possibility of more

Life without love was becoming a bore

I see faces in a crowd

Wonder if my voice will ever be loud

All the men that just might be

The one guy, fate promised me

Some of them are so great

Others still maturing a little late

Under the porch light alongside fireflies

The stars come out when the light dies

A shooting star devours the sky

I like to think that maybe it’s a soul passing by

One of someone I used to know

Stopping by to see the places I’m trying to go

Bugs attacking street lamps, the air warm

In still bodies of water, mosquitoes swarm

But its in this moment , I knew it will be okay

Maybe not today, but eventually, someday
